Information about the publishing house

Barrister & Principal is an independent, non-profit organization (a civic association) founded in 2000 in Brno, Czech Republic. Barrister & Principal’s focus is on the production and dissemination of high-quality literature, chiefly specializing in the humanities, but also delving into non-fiction, investigative political publications, and some select fiction. The titles are often issued under collaboration with Czech and foreign foundations and other sponsors.

Many books are published in long-term projects enabling the association to present the individual titles outside the standard distribution network (e.g. at exhibitions, presentations, conventions and conferences, international meetings, etc.).

The projects that are currently under way include:

  • Central Europe
  • Selected Writings by H. G. Adler
