The Barrister & Principal publishing house was founded in 1994 and publishes original literary production as well as translations of prose and poetry (including children’s literature), books on art history and theory, Czech and world history, religion and theology, psychology, sociology, political science and politics, the media, philosophy, economics, literary science, foreign language handbooks, and pictorial books and travel guides focusing on arts and architecture.
In its publication activities Barrister & Principal cooperates with numerous universities, colleges and other scientific and cultural institutions, and pursues a varied range of projects: Central Europe, Selected Writings of Karel Kaplan, Selected Writings of H. G. Adler, Selected Writings of Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach, Psycho-oncology, and many others. Long-term attention is devoted to the issues of holocaust, communism and fascism. The so-called Blue Series offers monographs, handbooks and dictionaries of fundamental importance in a given field that are aimed at university students studying for bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
